Science Express India
A Joint Indo-German Pathway to Discovery
The exhibition on wheels was opened by Germany’s Chancellor, Angela Merkel, and India’s Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh will travel 15,000 kilometres within the next 210 days, stopping in 57 cities throughout India. On the basis of multimedia techniques and interactive exhibits they learn more about the search for the smallest particles, research into the basis of life or the largest structures in the universe. A team of forty Indian students is accompanying the exhibition and is available to the visitors for questions about the content. In two additional wagons, the visitors learn more about education and research opportunities in India and Germany.
The Exhibition Design
ArchiMeDes developed an extraordinary exhibition design for the Science Express. The challenge consisted of linking the wagons in such a manner that the striking design of the interior of the 400-meter long train would inspire and guide the visitors. This was implemented by means of a modular exhibition architecture with an individual colour concept which combines, both attractively and functionally, the interactive exhibits and illustrative elements of the exhibition.
