Cologne’s Science Centre is a new and impressive setting for experiencing the wonders of science. The centre’s central focus is on scientific innovation and the future of mankind. A key question is how science and technology interact and the use society makes of this. ArchiMeDes designed the exhibition sets in the centre’s theme section ‘Life’. Here, in the section ‘Information as the Basis of Life’, a staircase spirals upwards around a sculpture of the DNA. A canyon is the setting for posing questions related to evolution in the section ‘Biological Evolution’. A huge and arresting depiction of the brain helps to make more accessible the section ‘The Nerve System and the Brain’.
