Ocean Worlds

The exhibition "MeeresWelten" is about the enduring fascination with the oceans. New, obscure and spectacular information about the sea is presented to a broad audience in an entertaining and interactive fashion. It is an exhibition that is meant to be felt, to be fun, and to combine sensual experience with information. The entire range of themes includes scientifc, geographic, ecologic information and is complemented with cultural history and contemporary art.

Exhibition design

ArchiMeDes developed an airhouse in the shape of a blue hemisphere especially for the exhibition which was designed to evoke the "blue blanet". Blue light floods the exhibition space and creates a mysterious atmosphere. The character of the exhibition is shaped by a combination of various exhibits and media installations: Image material and original exhibits from the collection of the Meeresmuseum plus expecially devoloped exhibits and media including games, audio terminals, films, 3D animations and hands-on exhibits.

Cooperation

The project is a cooperation of the Deutsches Meeresmuseum Stralsund, ArchiMeDes and Sunbeam. Half of the funding was covered by DBU subsidies, and the other half was jointly financed by ArchiMeDes and Sunbeam.
