The Micro World - World of the Future

The invisible revolution

After the great success of the travelling exhibition Micro Worlds and the interactive CD-ROM, “Micro Worlds – a Journey into the system of Microtechnics", ArchiMeDes is now making an updated version, " The Micro World – World of the Future”, on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. The new exhibition takes microsystems technology’s enormous potential for innovation as its focus. It shows what microsystems technology has already achieved and demonstrates, by means of research projects and visions of the future, what it will make possible in the near and more distant future. Visitors can explore the basic principles of microsystems technology by viewing individual exhibits and in a hands-on experimental area.

Exhibition design

The exhibition is designed as a modular system that adjusts to fit into the space provided. Two main areas define the exhibition: the experimental theatre with hands-on exhibits and cinema, as well as an area in which original exhibits are combined with graphics and text. In addition a trade show case has been developed, into which smaller versions of hands-on experiments have been integrated. The main elements of the exhibition are self-contained modules, in terms of both design and content, so that they can be rented separately.
