Microsoft E:volution II Symposium
E-Business in the 21st Century
ArchiMeDes designed and implemented an installation and a multimedia presentation for the Microsoft symposium "Microsoft.Net - new and flexible business models and technologies in the age of the digital economy". The guiding metaphor for the entire event was the notion of "evolution" - natural and technical evolution where juxtaposed and interrelated.
Design
For the staging of the spatial installation, a swamp like landscape with high grass was flooded with blue light and artificial fog to create an atmosphere of mystery and suspense. An association with the first stages of the natural evolution was thus implied. Scattered in the grass where cubical illuminated displays and video projections which provided the visitor with information about the formation of the universe and the earth, the development of human settlements and cities, and the evolution of the technologies for storing and transmitting information.
